If you’re anything like North-Forks, you like spontaneity, but only if you can control it. We like to look at the weekend ahead and ask “What do you want to do?” However, we really like to answer that question with, “Oh, we’ve already got plans and they’re freakin’ awesome!”
You may have noticed that North-Forks has been covering Greenport quite a bit in recent days, and while we also cover other locations, we were drawn back to Greenport – for something awesome – and wanted to help you make your awesome Sunday evening plans in advance.
Noah’s is one of the most popular restaurants on the North Fork, and for good reason: The food is amazing. Chef Noah is a great guy. He sources locally for his restaurant and food truck (that’s not why he’s a great guy, well, it’s sort of part of the reason). He gets the synergy that exists between the food and wine businesses on the North Fork. We have tasted many of his meals, both at the restaurant and at the sorely missed “Ten-Mile Dinners” (hint-hint) where everything that landed on the plate came from within ten miles.
So Chef Noah, along with several excellent wineries have created a Winemaker Dinner. Each Sunday at Noah’s in Greenport, Chef Noah will pair a specially designed meal with a selection of wine from one local winery. The winemaker will be present to introduce the pairings, discuss the wine, and answer any questions you may have. If you’ve never been to a group wine pairing, it should be a requirement to attend at least one: when the entire table tastes the same food and wine each course, a discussion naturally develops over the shared experience. It becomes so much more than just talking about dinner, it becomes discussing the dinner. Someone points out how well the scallops are cooked, another how the sauvignon blanc really brings out that flavor. The winemaker discusses how the nuanced citrus balances the acidity, and you can taste what that means. Before you know it, even if you never understood before, you will understand why these foods and wines were put together, and may even marvel at the chef for his forethought and creativity.
Dinners start promptly at 6PM in the private dining room. The cost is $95 per person (members of the winery wine club get 10% off). Seating is limited and reservations are a must.
