Upcoming Events August 7-13, 2015

The North Fork is in those dog days of summer. While we usually take the expression to mean that the heat and humidity are high, North-Forks learned that “dog days” actually refers to the rising of Sirius, the Dog Star, at sunrise in late July and early August. Coincidently, Moustache Brewery is having a dog-friendly event this weekend, truly making it a Dog Day.

There are plenty of things to do, live music, pizza and oysters throughout the coming week, so make your plans and please join us in celebration of the Dog Days of Summer, here on the North Fork!

Our Calendar is the best place to look for upcoming events to plan your time here, but here is a sample of what’s happening in the coming week:

Friday: Some interesting things happening today. The Old Field Vineyards are Tasting By The Bay, a tasting event where you reserve a tasting with the owner/winemaker of the winery and taste through wines discussing the growing process. Osprey’s Dominion has live music followed by Paint and Sip, and Seaside Grill, the restaurant behind the Hyatt at the Riverhead Aquarium has live music. There are plenty of regular events as well at North Fork Table , Shinn Estate , and Pindar.

Saturday: Saturday is dominated with live music. From Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyards to Sherwood House, there’s live music playing just about everywhere. One Woman Wines does their Tasting Under the Stars in the evening. Roanoke Vineyards is teaming up with Jim Waters of Waters Crest , Miguel Martin of Palmer Vineyards and Roman Roth of Wolffer Estate and Grapes of Roth for Project Seven. This tasting will demonstrate wines that were created through collaboration.

Sunday: Notable Sunday is Moustache Brewery giving back to our four-legged friends with Caesar’s Bucket List, a BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog event to raise money for Caesar, as he adds another notch in his bucket list: to hang out at a brewery with a bunch of other dogs. There’s also lot’s of live music and things to do.

Monday: During the day, take a self-guided tour and tasting at Shinn or have lunch at the lunch truck at North Fork Table and Inn. Lunch is when Restaurant Alure begins their lobster bash; as for Bedell Cellars, they save their events for weekdays and today they will have live music and food trucks. First & South celebrates Monday evening with their weekly pig roast, and PawPaw Pop Up takes over Bruce’s Cheese Imporium to serve a menu complete with things you never imagined were edible much less delicious.

Tuesday: Shinn , North Fork Table and Bedell Cellars all have similar events to Monday. Restaurant Alure switches gears from lobster to Greek with their Tuesday Santorini Bash: Greek food and music.

Wednesday: Little Creek Oysters celebrates Hump Day with happy hour, First & South honors our lifeguards with food and drink specials for the whistle-twirling sentinels of the waters, and Bistro 72 has live music.
