Roanoke Vineyards August 2017 Events – @RoanokeVineyard

An Evening with Gloria Maroti Frazee,

Director of Education at Wine Spectator

Saturday, August 5th, 6 PM

You probably already know Gloria through her videos on the Wine Spectator website where she’s introduced us to wines and

winemakers from around the world, and turned us onto delicious and unexpected food pairings. At this event Gloria will teach us to

“Taste like a pro!” You’ll taste eight wines from around the world,

and learn the tasting techniques used by the pros as you look for the sensory signatures of wines made from different grapes, regions, and winemaking techniques. This evening is an essential guide for all

wine lovers.

Sold out, but watch this spot for a second showing in early November!

The Hill Climb

Saturday, August 19th, 5 PM

Roanoke wine club members will again scale the summit of  “The Hill,” the high peak (78 feet above sea level) in our Sound Avenue

vineyard. Before any attempt at this sort of altitude you’ll need to spend considerable time acclimatizing at Base Camp with rich food

and wine (god forbid you have a cerebral edema en route!). Come prepared to spend time at four stations along the route, each with a

special food and wine pairing. Upon summiting, our high altitude sommeliers will introduce you to the next vintage of  “The Hill.”

Dinner and our fire pit will be waiting at Base Camp.

$100. for members and their guests

SOLD OUT

A Roanoke ROAD TRIP!

Saturday, September 16th, 9:30 AM

Roll up! Roll up for the mystery tour! Here’s your invitation to make a reservation for a vineyard tour and tasting aboard our air conditioned Hampton Jitney. We’ll leave Roanoke at 9:30 AM and head for Wölffer Estate in Sagaponack. Here you’ll taste the Wölffer wines, walk the vineyard’s rolling hills with Rich Pisacano, and see where both the Wölffer and Roanoke estate wines are made. A box lunch from Citarella will fend off starvation. Upon returning to Roanoke we’ll taste a selection of Roanoke wines in the Sound Avenue vineyard and discuss the specific climate and site differences between the two venues.

When is a wine too old?

Saturday November 4th, 6 PM

Is that 1962 Bordeaux in your cellar spent? What about the 2003 Blend One? We hope not! But how do you know? Join Roanoke’s

Rich Pisacano as he visits older vintages from Bordeaux, California, and Long Island, and learn what they mean when they say

“drink now” or “hold.”

$65 for members and their guests

Our events sell out quickly, so if you see something you’re interested in, be sure to reserve your spot before it’s too late.
